For an OEM manual or broad setup, start with $compile-user-map. For a named stage, you get that skill.\n\n## What you get\n\nUse this when you do not know which Modbus skill to choose. An OEM manual, spreadsheet, or broad setup goes to $compile-user-map. A request for one named stage goes directly to that specialist. If you already have a capture, it recommends $analyze-capture or $check-byte-order.\n\n## How it runs\n\n**Matches your request to the right path.** The skill checks your goal and the file you already have. It names one next skill, the input it uses, and the file it creates. It does not replace $compile-user-map with a long specialist chain. It does not change a file, calculate a value, or contact a device.\n\n## Example request\n\n```text\n$modbus-help\n\nUse this PDF manual to prepare a read-only Node-RED test for temperatures and alarms. Choose the right Modbus skill to start.\n```\n\n## Safety\n\nNo writes. No broadcasts. No discovery scans. No polls without a defined limit. Unknown values stay blank and remain visible for review.\n\n## Source\n\n- [Canonical SKILL.md](https://github.com/studioxvii/modbus-skills/blob/v0.2.2/plugins/modbus-skills/skills/modbus-help/SKILL.md)\n- [Modbus Skills 0.2.2 release](https://github.com/studioxvii/modbus-skills/releases/tag/v0.2.2)\n- [All Modbus Skills](/skills/modbus.md)\n"}
